Lavender Oil for a Good Night’s Sleep

Project Roohie # 4

Swikrita’s story:

“Most of us in the 21st century lead a very stressful life which leads to a variety of sleep disorders. Lavender oil works like magic while going to bed after a long stressful day. It relaxes, soothes, and helps you retrieve your sleep cycle gradually.”

Prepare Your Own Lavender Infused Oil at Home:

• Take a glass container/bottle and fill it with one part dried lavender flowers and two parts oil. It is a preferable to use almond oil or sunflower oil that help to bring out the smell of the lavender. You can buy dried lavender flowers here.
• Let the container sit for 4 to 6 weeks if you wish to go the slow, traditional way. Shake the container few times in between to stir the contents. If you wish to augment the process, you can place it in mild, indirect sunlight to jumpstart the infusion. But I prefer not exposing it to the sun for too long.
• Once ready, you can use few drops of the oil and rub it on you palms, cupping them and inhaling the aroma for a soothing, calming effect. Doing this before bedtime is especially helpful. You can rub the oil on your pillow as well for a more sustained effect.

You can also buy lavender infused essential oil here.
