It has been a long time since I last posted here. How are you, dear Soul-Searchers?
September whizzed past by us.
Octobers are a pretty sight to behold, especially the evenings. They bring such calm and joy to one’s inner being.
Last October evening, I stood on our balcony, as I often do actually. The sun had just gone down, and its essence lingered on. The crimson sky was punctuated with perfect white clouds. I stood there. My mind a blank, my heart breathing in the fresh October dusk. It was then the birds came. As they always come. Homeward bound.
There were different kinds of birds. Some big, some small. Some flapped their wings, some danced to the breeze. I kept staring at them. I stared hard and hard and observed that they waited for their company to resume their journey. Homeward bound. No matter what, they waited. They did not leave their love behind. They simply waited. Not in exasperation but in jubilance. They danced some more while they waited. They played with each other while they waited. But they waited, nonetheless.
When all arrived, they flew away to the distant blue hills. Perhaps their homes were there.
I wondered how their homes would be. Where would they be? Would they all be together? Were their homes always there?
Or, were their homes in that wait? Were their homes in that meeting together? Were their homes in that love and anticipation? Did their homes exist where they all danced and played together? Wherever that may be.
The closure of the crimson rays gave into a strange dark stillness. The night was approaching.
The birds were long gone. I stepped back and turned. Homeward bound?
Perhaps, my home also lay in that distant dance and playful pirouettes. In the waiting and the anticipation.
Home. Where is it? Instead, what is it?
Tell me what you think home is. I hope to come up with a post soon. Till then,
