My Journey Towards a Healthy Lifestyle # 2

How are you, my dear Soul-Searchers? Long time, no see. I hope and pray you are all safe and well during these mad times.

A few posts ago, I shared with you what triggered me to start a healthy lifestyle in my late twenties.  In today’s post, let us talk of the much-debated topic: body-shaming and body-positivity.

Unless we have been living under a rock for the last couple of years, we know what body-shaming is. Anyone who is marginalised and shamed based on the body type has been a victim of body shaming. In a capitalist, patriarchal world, most of us have already heard it ourselves quite many time ­­— you are extremely bony, you are very plump, you are not thin enough, you are not fat enough, your tummy shows and makes you look pregnant, you look like the skeleton of a dead man, and so on.

So, dear people, stop objectifying me as an ideal body image of society. There is no absolute definition of a perfect body. This body is mine and it is perfect for me.

Thank goodness for the body-positivity awareness all around us now!

Having said that, one should also be equally aware of one’s health.

We should not neglect the health of our body and mind. Otherwise, there are serious consequences: illnesses and doctors, the rounds of which we do not want to make.

If you are healthy, then you have a perfect body.

Let us promise not to judge people based on their bodies. However, let us also promise ourselves to take care of our bodies, not to abuse them and to live a healthy life.

In the next post, I will share with you my process of transforming into a healthy lifestyle.
